Consistent presence
Upon learning about our tutoring model, a UC Berkeley professor replied, “Here is your core business: rigor, relevance, and relationships.” This trio of R’s is very accurate; in fact: our tutors have excelled scholastically at our nation’s top universities, so they provide the high-level academic rigor needed to teach their subjects. Then, because our tutors are dynamic, energetic and exciting people who are doing great things with their lives academically and professionally, they are able to relate to their students how factoring a polynomial or composing a five-paragraph essay is relevant in the bigger picture of personal development, aspiration, and achievement. Finally, our tutors possess adept interpersonal skills and love to work with kids, so they quickly create valuable and lasting bonds with their students that make positive impacts in our clients’ lives.
Our primary goal is to provide youth with the consistent presence of reliable role models and mentors. When people experience challenging times in their lives, consistency and reliability rise to the surface as critical characteristics that friends, family, and mentors must provide. Humans respond well to consistent, positive presences in their lives, whether that materializes as a friend simply meeting with you once a week for coffee during a difficult time or arrives as a tutor studying with a student every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 PM to support and navigate the course through a challenging AP Chemistry class in high school.
When you have an opportunity to serve as a consistent presence for someone in need, do not take it for granted; do not ignore it - it is your time to act and make a positive impact in another person’s life.
